3,000 individually addressable RGBW lamps across 300 m / 984 ft of waterfront — the main section of the Illuminations, below the world-famous Tower.
MaxiLED Lighting was given a grand task: illuminating the main section of the Blackpool Illuminations, directly below the world-famous Blackpool Tower. The client’s brief was simple to state and demanding to deliver — a colour-changing spectacular.
The design team proposed the MaxiLED Large Globe Strand DMX RGBW. Fully programmable, the system gives the programmer individual control of the full RGBW spectrum on each and every lamp — 3,000 of them, strung across a 300 m / 984 ft stretch of waterfront to tantalise visitors in cars and on foot along the promenade.
The environment was a deciding factor: the Large Globe Strand is IP68 rated, sealed against the salt spray and weather of the Irish Sea front. And with MaxiLINK, the whole system runs on a single cable — keeping catenary weight to a minimum across the long spans.
IP68 sealed, individually addressable RGBW festoon globe on the MaxiLINK platform — a single 2-core cable carries power and DMX control across every globe on the strand. Built for permanent coastal exposure at landmark scale.
