Focal Facade High Output tracing the structural steel lines of a glass-fronted hotel above Abidjan.
Solid State Lighting International (SSLI) was tasked with illuminating the exterior of the Azalai Hotel in Abidjan. The facade is made almost entirely of large glass panes, fastened by steel supports that run vertically up the building — leaving very little solid material to light.
The answer was to make the structure itself the subject: MaxiLED Focal Facade High Output fixtures trace the contours of the building with pinpoints of light, turning the steel skeleton into the night-time identity of the hotel.
The low-voltage, high-output model was chosen for its IP68 rating and simple installation. The hardest part was the mounting position — on the intersections of the steel edging — so a bespoke corner bracket was designed and engineered under the strictest of deadlines, achieving exactly the effect the client requested.
IP68 sealed directional accent fixture on the MaxiLED low-voltage platform — compact enough to sit on structural steel, bright enough to define a high-rise at night. Custom mounting hardware engineered to suit the architecture.
